NSW police charge man after stabbing

A man has been charged following a stabbing at Merrylands yesterday.

About 3.30pm (Sunday 7 August 2022), emergency services were called to Sheffield Street following reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, police located a 35-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, police attended a nearby home on William Street and arrested a 31-year-old man.

He was taken to Granville Police Station and charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Monday 8 August 2022).

Police will allege in court the two men are known to each other.
