NSW police charge man after stabbing at Lithgow

A 58-year-old man has been charged following a stabbing at Lithgow this morning.

About 5am (Wednesday 30 October 2019), emergency services were called to licensed premises on Main Street, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told two men – aged 42 and 58 – were involved in a physical altercation, where the younger man sustained stab wounds and left the scene prior to police arriving.

Officers from Chiefly Police District attended and arrested the 58-year-old man at the scene. He was taken to Lithgow Police Station where he assisted police with enquiries.

About 6am, the younger man attended Lithgow Hospital for treatment. He was transferred to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition.

The 58-year-old man has been charged with Wounding with Intent to Cause GBH.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Lithgow Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 31 October 2019).

The men are believed to be known to each other.
