NSW police charge man after stabbing at Liverpool

Detectives have laid charges following an investigation into the alleged stabbing of a man at Liverpool earlier this month.

About 7pm on Friday 6 November 2020, emergency services were called to a home at O’Brien Street, Liverpool, following reports a man had been stabbed by a man known to him.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and located a 36-year-old man with a serious stab wound to his hand.

Police were told the man was stabbed with a meat cleaver by another man, before he fled the scene.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 41-year-old man at Smart Street, Fairfield, about 12pm today (Tuesday 17 November 2020).

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and reckless wounding.

The man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 18 November 2020).
