NSW police charge man after stealing and assaults

A man has been charged with multiple offences after a string of alleged incidents at Mt Druitt yesterday.

Police will allege that a man entered a hospital on Luxford Road just after 1.10pm (Sunday 18 August 2019), and stole a number of phones belonging to staff members.

He then ran from the hospital after being confronted by a staff member, with hospital security guards following him to a fast food outlet on Luxford Road.

The man then allegedly attacked the security guards inside the outlet bathroom, punching them multiple times, and forcing one into a door.

He was detained by the guards until officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command attended and arrested the 27-year-old man.

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with larceny (x2), assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, goods in custody, and by virtue of an outstanding warrant.

He was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Monday 19 August 2019).
