NSW police charge man after Woodcroft stabbing

A man will face court today charged over the stabbing of another during a robbery in Sydney’s west last month.

Emergency services were called to a fast food restaurant on Richmond Road, Woodcroft, about 5am on Monday 2 December 2019, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Police from Blacktown Police Area Command attended and found a 24-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his back.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital, where he underwent surgery and has since been released.

Police have been told that the man was at Woodcroft Lakes when he was approached by three men and had his personal property stolen after being threatened with a knife.

The man was told to lie on his stomach and was stabbed before jumping in the nearby lake to escape his attackers, who fled.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 24-year-old man at a Woodcroft home about 10am yesterday (Thursday 16 January 2020).

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station and charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, and robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The man was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Friday 17 January 2020).
