Two people will appear in court today charged as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the state’s Murrumbidgee region.
Strike Force Midriff was established in September this year to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine and drug-related crime in the Griffith area.
Following extensive investigations, officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District’s Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at a home on School Street, Hanwood, five kilometres south of Griffith, about 8.30am yesterday (Thursday 2 December 2021).
During a search of the property, police seized methylamphetamine, ammunition, an extendable baton, laser pointer, a zombie knife and other items relevant to the investigation.
A 22-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were arrested at the home and taken to Griffith Police Station.
The man was charged with 26 offences including supply prohibited drug (x20), possess prohibited drug, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x3), possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, and knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime.
The woman was charged with supply prohibited drug and breach of bail.
Both were refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court today (Friday 3 December 2021).
Inquiries are continuing.
