NSW police charge man over aggravated break-in at Tamworth

A man has been charged following an investigation into alleged aggravated break and enters at Tamworth last month.

About 5am on Monday 8 November 2021, officers attached to Oxley Police District were called to a home on Woodbury Crescent, Oxley Vale, following reports an unknown man had allegedly threatened a male occupant of the home with a knife and demanded cash.

Police were told the man fled the location with a small amount of cash and a Kia Celtos belonging to the occupant.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police located the Kia Celtos about 7am (Monday 8 November 2021) on Macgregor Street, West Tamworth.

Following extensive inquiries, officers from Oxley Police District contacted the Mt Druitt Police Area Command’s Criminal Investigation Team, who attended a home on Luxford Road, Mt Druitt, about 10.30am today (Tuesday 21 December 2021).

A 19-year-old Narrabri man was arrested and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-armed.

He was also charged with the same offence in relation to a separate alleged aggravated break and enter at a home on Petra Avenue, Tamworth, on Tuesday 2 November 2021.

The man was refused bail and attended Mt Druitt Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 21 December 2021), where he was again refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday 2 March 2022.
