NSW police charge man over break-ins at retail premises at Griffith

Police have charged a man following investigations into a series of break and enters at retail premises in the Murrumbidgee region last month.

In December 2021, officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District commenced investigations into a number of break and enter offences at retail stores in the Griffith area, particularly in Yambil Street.

Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Heath Crescent at Griffith, just after 4am on Sunday (2 January 2022).

During the search, officers seized several items, including a tool bag – believed to be stolen.

As part of ongoing inquires, officers stopped a 37-year-old man at Probert Avenue at Griffith, about 4pm yesterday (Tuesday 4 January 2022).

He was subsequently arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of break and enter house steal, larceny, break and enter dwelling – house with intent (steal) and enter dwelling with intent to steal.

The Griffith man was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Wednesday 5 January 2022).
