NSW police charge man over child abuse material at Lake Illawarra

An Illawarra man will face court today charged over the alleged possession of child abuse material.

Shortly after midday yesterday (Tuesday 5 November 2019), police were called to a home unit on Shellharbour Road, Warilla, following concerns for the welfare of the male resident.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District attended and after being unable to raise anyone at the location, they entered the home to search for the man.

A short time later, a crime scene warrant was executed at the premises, with officers seizing a mobile phone and other child abuse material.

The resident – a 52-year-old man – was arrested after he arrived home during the warrant and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was later charged with three counts of possess child abuse material.

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 6 November 2019).
