NSW police charge man over glassing at Ultimo party

A man will face court this afternoon, charged following an alleged assault at a party involving more than 100 people in Ultimo overnight.

About 2am today (Sunday 7 November 2021), officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were called to a unit on Harris Street, Ultimo, following reports of an assault.

When police arrived on scene, occupants of the party allegedly threw bottles from the balcony of the location to the street towards them. When police entered the unit, they found a 30-year-old man with lacerations to his head.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, two men – aged 20 and 19 – were arrested.

The older man was taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was released without charge.

The 19-year-old man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with reckless wounding – in company, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s), and affray.

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.
