NSW police charge man over police pursuit at Bowraville

A man will face court today following an alleged police pursuit on the state’s Mid North Coast.

About 11pm on Sunday 21 July 2019, police observed a Holden Commodore on High Street, Bowraville, when the vehicle allegedly drove towards police before fleeing the scene; no pursuit was initiated at the time.

Then about 12.20pm yesterday (Monday 22 July 2019), police located the Commodore being driven on North Arm Road, Bowraville, by a man and two passengers, where a short pursuit was initiated.

The driver left the vehicle and fled the scene on foot; he was found a short time later in nearby bushland.

Police also arrested the two passengers; however, they were later released.

The alleged driver, a 20-year-old man, was taken to Macksville Police Station and charged with several traffic offences including fail to stop police pursuit (Skye’s Law).

He was refused bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court today (Tuesday 23 July 2019).
