NSW police charge man over robbery at Queanbeyan

A man will face court tomorrow, charged over an aggravated break and enter at a service station in the state’s Monaro region.

Just after 7.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 14 December 2021), a 29-year-old man was working at a service station on Uriarra Road, Queanbeyan, when a man entered the business armed with a large stick.

Police will allege the armed man walked behind the counter and threatened the employee, demanding cash.

The staff member suffered minor injuries when he was struck with the stick.

The armed man left the scene a short time later with cash.

Officers attached to Monaro Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Following investigations, just before 11.40am today (Wednesday 15 December 2021), police executed a search warrant at an address on Carinya Street, Queanbeyan, where they arrested a 34-year-old man.

Police also seized a number of items relevant to the investigation, including clothing and cash.

The man was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 16 December 2021).
