NSW police charge man over role in concealing Glendenning kidnapping

A man has been charged over his alleged involvement in concealing a kidnapping and assault in Sydney’s west in 2017.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad established Strike Force Moppity to investigate the kidnapping and assault of a man, then aged 30, at an industrial unit on Owen Street, Glendenning, on Sunday 20 August 2017.

Following inquiries, officers executed crime scene and search warrants at the unit on Monday 21 August 2017.

During the search, they located 27 firearms in a vehicle and seized 24kg of methylamphetamine.

The firearms – including 21 handguns – were seized for forensic examination.

Detectives have charged three men – aged 36, 37 and 30 – during the investigation so far. They remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, Strike Force Moppity detectives arrested a 28-year-old man following a vehicle stop on Sutherland Street, North Parramatta, about 6.45am today (Wednesday 26 June 2019).

The man was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with conceal serious indictable offence of another person, and take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm (accessory after the fact to an offence).

Police will allege in court that the man assisted to conceal the crime scene at Glendenning.

The Parramatta man was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 24 July 2019.
