NSW police charge man over role in murder

A second man has been charged over his alleged role in the stabbing death of a man on the Central Coast.

Emergency services were called to a home on Slim Close, Watanobbi, about 11.30pm on Sunday (25 October 2020), where a 26-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his chest and face.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before he was taken in a critical condition to John Hunter Hospital, where he later died.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the man’s death under Strike Force Melanesia, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Last week, a 28-year-old man was charged with murder; he remains before the courts.

Following extensive inquiries, officers from South Coast Police District were conducting patrols in the Moruya area yesterday (Monday 2 November 2020), when they stopped and spoke to a 34-year-old man and a woman.

The pair were arrested and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station.

The Lake Munmorah man was charged with accessory after the fact to murder and was refused bail to appear at Batemans Bay Local Court today (Tuesday 3 November 2020).

The woman was released pending further inquiries.

Inquiries continue.
