NSW police charge man over sexual abuse of girl he

A man has been charged over the alleged sexual abuse of a teenage girl he met online.

In June, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a girl had been sexually abused by a man she met through a social media application.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 34-year-old man at Penrith Police Station about 7pm yesterday (Wednesday 28 October 2020).

The Warragamba man was charged with two counts of have sexual intercourse with child aged between 14 and 16.

Police will allege in court that that the man made arrangements online to meet with a 15-year-old girl then drove from Sydney to the Murray River region in April and had sex with her.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Thursday 29 October 2020).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
