NSW police charge man over sexual touching on bus in Sydney’s east

Police have today charged a man after he allegedly sexually touched two young boys on a bus in Sydney’s east last year.

About 3.15pm on Friday 18 October 2019, the 70-year-old man boarded a bus on Belmore Road, Randwick, before allegedly sexually touching the boys, aged 11 and 12.

He exited the bus at Torrington Road, Maroubra, a short time later.

In a second incident, about 7.30am on Thursday 5 December 2020, the 12-year-old boy was seated on a bus when the man boarded at Torrington Road, Maroubra.

Police will allege that the man sat next to the boy and sexually touched him, before exiting.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the incidents which are believed to be linked.

Following inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a unit on Beamish Street, Campsie, yesterday (Thursday 9 July 2020), where they seized a number of items including clothing and electronic items.

About 9am today (Friday 10 July 2020), officers attended the Campsie home where they arrested the man before taking him to Campsie Police Station.

He was charged with three counts of intentionally sexually touch a child, and granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 26 August 2020.
