NSW police charge man over shooting at Campbelltown

A man will appear in court tomorrow after being charged over an alleged shooting in Campbelltown yesterday.

During the early hours of Sunday 19 May 2019, a 17-year-old male presented at Campbelltown Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right upper arm.

The injury was not life threatening and the teenager was later transferred to Liverpool Hospital to undergo surgery.

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command were contacted and attended the hospital where they spoke with the teen and commenced an investigation.

As a result of those investigations, about 10.30am today (Monday 20 May 2019), a 20-year-old man was arrested at Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with discharge firearm likely to injure a person and possession of a prohibited pistol.

Police will allege the pistol was accidentally discharged by the 20-year-old man, whilst travelling in the same vehicle with the 17-year-old, who was struck in the arm by the bullet.

The man was refused bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 21 May 2019).
