NSW police charge man over stabbing at Tamworth

A man will face court today charged the alleged stabbing of another man in the state’s north-west yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Cossa Street, West Tamworth, just before 2.40am yesterday (Thursday 28 October 2021) following reports a man had been stabbed.

The 47-year-old man was found at the unit with a stab wound to his neck.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Oxley Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, and with the assistance of the Dog Unit, police arrested a 57-year-old man nearby about 4.40am.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.

The man appeared at Tamworth Local Court yesterday, where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at the same court on Monday 15 November 2021.
