NSW police charge man with 66 offences in connection with state-wide drug supply network

Police have charged another person with connection to an alleged state-wide drug supply network operating across Sydney’s south west and the state’s central west.

In February 2019, detectives attached to Western Region established Strike Force Pinnacle to investigate an ongoing large-scale drug supply network operating from Wellington, NSW.

Early inquiries revealed the syndicate was allegedly sourcing prohibited drugs – mainly methylamphetamine (ice), but also MDMA and heroin – from Sydney, and distributing them to regional towns across NSW.

Subsequently, in January 2020, detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Drug & Firearms Squad established Strike Force Laverick to investigate the syndicate’s links in Sydney.

Between February 2019 and June 2020, 51 people were arrested and charged as a result of ongoing inquiries.

A further three people were arrested and charged by Strike Force Laverick detectives at a correctional facility at Silverwater earlier this month.

Following further inquiries, officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District arrested a 56-year-old man at a property on Lesmurdie Parade, Dubbo, just after 1.30pm yesterday (Monday 13 July 2020).

He was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with 63 counts of supply prohibited drug, two counts of receiving property theft and larceny.

Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the supply of prohibited drugs and also stole more than 90,000 litres of water from council water mains, 500 litres of diesel and power tools in November and December of 2019.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Dubbo Local Court today (Tuesday 14 July 2020).

A total of 55 people have now been charged as a result of investigations by Strike Force Pinnacle and Strike Force Laverick.

Investigations are continuing.
