NSW police charge man with animal cruelty at Liverpool

A man has been charged after allegedly killing a family dog during a break and enter in Sydney’s south-west earlier this year.

Police will allege that, between 10.30pm on Saturday 30 January and 1pm on Sunday 31 January 2021, a home on Glider Avenue in Middleton Grange was broken into.

The owners returned home to find their 11-year-old Pomeranian dog had been killed, and numerous items of property including jewellery, electronics and designer clothing had been stolen.

The break-in was reported to police at Liverpool City Police Area Command and an investigation was commenced.

About 9.30am yesterday (Wednesday 3 March 2021), officers attended a home on Hitter Avenue, Mount Pritchard, where they arrested a 19-year-old man.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with break and enter house etc steal value less than $60,000 and commit act of aggravated cruelty upon animal.

He was refused bail and will appear in Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 4 March 2021).
