NSW police charge man with attempted murder near Murwillumbah

A man will face today charged with attempted murder following an alleged domestic-related stabbing in the state’s north earlier this year.

About 9pm on Sunday (7 February 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing at a property on Tyalgum Road, Eungella.

Upon arrival, officers located a 46-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man with stab wounds.

Both were airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in serious conditions.

The woman has since been released from hospital and is receiving ongoing treatment.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident.

He was later transferred to Tweed Heads Hospital under police guard before being released and arrested by Tweed/Byron PD detectives.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with attempted murder, intentionally choke person without consent (DV) and wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV).

He was bail refused to face Tweed Heads Local Court on Thursday 18 February 2021, where he was formally bail refused to reappear at the same court today (Friday 16 April 2021).
