NSW police charge man with attempted murder

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was attacked in her bedroom in Sydney’s west.

About 11.30pm on Wednesday (20 November 2019), a man arrived at a home on Gallop Grove, Lalor Park and he was engaged in an argument with a bedridden 64-year-old woman who is known to him.

The man allegedly asked the woman for money and when she said she didn’t have any money, police will allege he used a pillow to smother her and restrict her breathing.

The woman managed to activate her medical alert bracelet and call for help and police and emergency services attended a short time later.

She suffered a number of injuries and was taken to Blacktown Hospital.

Police established a crime scene and began investigations.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Quakers Hill Police Station.

He was charged with attempt to strangle/suffocate with intent to murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Friday 22 November 2019).
