NSW police charge man with domestic and firearm offences

A man will face court today, charged over a domestic-violence related incident on the Mid North Coast.

Just after 7.40am yesterday (Friday 22 May 2020), officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District were called to Hasting Street, Wauchope, following reports of a domestic incident.

Police were told a woman was allegedly threatened by a man with a firearm at a King Creek home, before fleeing with family members.

Following a search of the area, a Toyota Hilux was seen by officers travelling on Beechwood Road, Beechwood, however, it accelerated away.

The Toyota was again seen on Pembroke Village Road and was located by officers on Farrawells Road, Telegraph Point about 9.45am.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station.

As part of inquiries, investigators attended the King Creek home and allegedly located ammunition, and cannabis plants.

The man was charged with possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority, fire firearm in or near public place (DV), drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, destroy or damage property, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic), cultivate prohibited plant, and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today (Saturday 23 May 2020).
