NSW police charge man with domestic-related offences at Dubbo

A man has been charged with domestic violence related offences and resisting police in the state’s Orana region.

Just after 12.30am yesterday (Saturday 1 August 2020), officers from Orana Mid Western Police District were called to a house on Birch Avenue, Dubbo, after reports a man allegedly assaulted a woman during a domestic-related incident.

The man fled the scene on foot and was arrested by police following a short foot pursuit. During the pursuit, the man ran through a metal gate, causing it to strike an officer.

A sergeant was treated for lacerations to his hand.

The 25-year-old man was taken to Dubbo Police Station, before being taken to Dubbo Hospital for treatment of a shoulder injury.

Upon release, he was taken back to the station and charged with resist officer in execution of duty, destroy or damage property (DV), possess prohibited drug, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (domestic), contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic) and common assault (DV).

He was refused bail and appeared before Dubbo Local Court yesterday (Saturday 1 August 2020), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court tomorrow (Monday 3 August 2020).
