NSW police charge man with firearms and drug offences at Taree

A man has been charged after an illegal firearm and large quantity of prohibited drugs were seized on the mid north-coast yesterday.

About 1.55pm (Wednesday 24 November 2021), officers attached to Manning-Great Lakes Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Pitt Street, Taree, following investigations into unauthorised possession of firearms and the supply of prohibited drugs in the area.

During the search, officers allegedly located a large amount of methylamphetamine, cocaine, and steroids, as well as a dismantled seven-shot revolver and over $45,000 cash.

All items were seized and will undergo further forensic examination.

Following the search, a 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station.

He was charged with three counts of possess prohibited drug, possess/attempt to, anabolic or androgenic steroidal agent, possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance, supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, goods suspected stolen in/on premises, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm- pistol, and not keep firearm safely- pistol.

The Taree man was refused bail to appear at Forster Local Court today (Thursday 25 November 2021).
