NSW police charge man with fraud after vehicle stop at Glen Innes

A man will face court today charged after police seized a large number of identification documents and prohibited drugs following a vehicle stop in the state’s northern tablelands.

About 11pm yesterday (Thursday 20 January 2022), officers attached to New England Police District stopped a white sedan on Gwydir Highway, Glen Innes, due to the manner of driving.

Officers spoke to the driver – a 25-year-old man – before searching the car.

Police located and seized identification documents, methylamphetamine, a knife, two mobile phones and drug paraphernalia.

The items will undergo further examination.

He was taken to Glen Innes Police Station and charged with 42 counts of possess identity information to commit indictable offence, supply prohibited drug and custody of knife in public place.

The Penrith man was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court today (Friday 21 January 2022).
