NSW police charge man with intimidating police officer at Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged following a police operation in Wagga Wagga yesterday.

Shortly after 8am (Wednesday 1 April 2020) officers from Riverina Police District attended a home on Gurwood Street, Wagga Wagga, to speak with a man regarding the alleged intimidation of a police officer.

Following a brief stand-off, a 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with assault, intimidate police officer in execution of duty, break and enter, take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage and possess prohibited drug.

Police will allege the man made threats online towards a police officer attached to Riverina Police District.

It will be further alleged the man detained a woman that was not known to him during the stand-off yesterday. The woman was not physically injured.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 2 April 2020).
