NSW police charge man with multiple domestic violence, property offences at Wollongong

A man will face court today charged with 14 domestic violence and property offences near Wollongong.

On Saturday (14 December 2019) the man allegedly went to a house in East Corrimal and assaulted a woman who is known to him, before damaging a vehicle on his way out of the property.

Police will further allege the man attended a house in Bellambi on Monday (16 December 2019) and assaulted a second woman who is known to him, before leaving the home and smashing the driver’s side mirror off a car on the way out.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the two alleged assaults.

Following inquiries, about 6.50pm yesterday (Tuesday 17 December 2019) the 28-year-old man was located by officers from Wollongong Police District at a house in East Corrimal.

He was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he was charged with:

– aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence

– intentionally choke person without consent,

– assault occasioning actual bodily harm,

– common assault x 3

– stalk/intimate intend fear physical etc harm,

– contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO x 2

– destroy or damage property

Police will allege in court the man broke into a Kanahooka house on Friday 6 December 2019 and stole a bicycle. He was charged with a number of additional offences in relation to this matter:

– enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence

– enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner

– enter inclosed land not prescribed premises, and

– break and enter.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 18 December 2019).
