NSW police charge man with multiple offences committed in state’s Central West at Dubbo

A man will face court today after allegedly committing numerous offences in the state’s Central West this week.

About 3pm Wednesday (17 July 2019), it is alleged the 19-year-old breached an enforceable ADVO when sending a series of abusive text messages to a woman known to him.

The man was observed by police attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District in Gulgong sometime after 7pm. When approached, it is alleged he ran from police, stealing a Landcruiser.

About 12.10am yesterday (Thursday 18 July 2019), police engaged in a pursuit with the man travelling on the Golden Highway east of Dubbo. The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.

It is alleged the man broke into a Fitzroy Street home in Dubbo about 2.30am, where he attempted to steal a Hyundai Accent.

The man was confronted by a female occupant and a struggle ensued. It is alleged he produced a knife and threatened the victim, before attempting to stab a man who confronted him.

The man fled the scene in the Hyundai.

About 3.27am, police engaged in a second pursuit with the man which was terminated again due to safety concerns.

It is alleged the man stole a third vehicle a short time later.

Police attended a Godwins Lane address at Dubbo about 2.10pm following reports the man was at the location.

The man fled police, and allegedly stole a fourth vehicle from Mogriguy Road, which was also involved in a terminated pursuit later that afternoon.

About 7pm yesterday, multiple police attended a Fitzroy Street address at Dubbo where the man was believed to be hiding-out.

Police successfully arrested the man without incident and he was taken to Dubbo Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent, larceny (x3), police pursuit (x3), assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contravene ADVO, use carriage service/ threaten to kill, intimidation, take and drive conveyance without consent (x2), possess drug, enter land with intent to commit indicatable offence, drive while unlicensed, and breach conditional bail.

The man was bail refused to appear before Dubbo Local Court today (Friday 19 July 2019).

“It was really good police work in difficult circumstances to apprehend this man so quickly, and it was a result of a joint effort between Western Region High Risk Domestic Violence Team, Orana Mid-Western Police District Detectives and TAG Unit, Traffic & Highway Patrol, and general duties from Dubbo,” Orana Mid-Western Police District Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Denise Godden said.
