NSW police charge man with murder

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in the state’s north earlier this week.

About 10.10am on Tuesday (26 April 2022), emergency services were called to a unit on Curtois Street, Kyogle, following reports the body of a man had been located inside.

Officers from Richmond Police District attended along with NSW Ambulance; however, the man – aged in his 70s – could not be revived.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene was established and forensically examined.

Detectives from Richmond Police District, with the assistance of State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Siandra to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Following inquiries, a 55-year-old man was arrested on Summerland Way Kyogle

He was taken to Casino Police Station where he was charged with murder.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Ballina Local Court tomorrow (Friday 29 April 2022).
