NSW police charge man with possession and production of child abuse material at Croppa Creek

A man has been charged with the production and possession of child abuse material alleged to have occurred in the state’s north over an extended period 10 years ago.

About 9am on Saturday 11 July 2020, detectives from New England Police District attended a home in Croppa Creek where they located and seized a mobile phone containing explicit photographs of young females.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 68-year-old man that afternoon.

He was taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with possess child abuse material, use child under 14 years for pornographic purposes, disseminate/ produce child pornography, stalk/ intimidate intend fear of physical/ mental harm, and detention application – arrest.

Police will allege in court that the man took photos of a victim on several occasions between the ages of seven and 13 years old.

He appeared before Tamworth Local Court on Sunday (12 July 2020) where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before Moree Local Court on Monday 14 September 2020.
