NSW police charge man with vehicle bombings at Nowra

Detectives investigating an explosion which damaged two parked cars at Nowra last year, have charged a man.

Around 9pm on Wednesday 3 July 2019, two homemade improvised explosive devices were thrown onto the windscreens of two vehicles parked in the driveway of a Nowra home.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage to the front windscreen and bonnet area.

No one was injured as a result of the explosions.

Officers from South Coast Police District and the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit attended and commenced an investigation.

A crime scene was established, and a number of items were seized for forensic examination.

Strike Force Keele – which comprised detectives from the South Coast Police District – was formed to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 24-year-old man at Nowra Police Station about 7.30pm yesterday (Friday 14 August 2020).

The man was charged with damaging property by fire/explosion and possession, supply or making of explosives.

He was refused bail and will appear before Nowra Local Court later this morning (Saturday 15 August 2020).

Inquiries are continuing.
