NSW police charge two after investigation into woman’s death

A man and woman have been charged following the death of another woman in Rooty Hill in 2015.

Just after 9.30am on Sunday 1 February 2015, NSW Ambulance paramedics attended a home at Moody Street, Rooty Hill, where they treated an unconscious woman who was reported to have overdosed.

Despite efforts to resuscitate the then-aged 21-year-old woman, she was declared deceased.

Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command attended and prepared a report for the Coroner.

An inquest into the woman’s death was held in November 2018 and the matter was referred to the Office of The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Detectives established Strike Force Pinewood to investigate the circumstances of the woman’s death.

Following an extensive investigation, a 57-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, known to the woman, were issued a Court Attendance Notice on Thursday 20 February for the offence of manslaughter.

Police will allege in court that the pair failed to seek medical assistance, resulting in the woman’s death.

Both will appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Wednesday 1 April 2020).
