NSW police charge two after Mercedes stolen

Two men have been charged after a luxury sedan was stolen from Glenorie yesterday.

Shortly before 11.30am (Saturday 16 February 2019) police were alerted to the theft of a Mercedes E55 that had been advertised for private sale at a home in Glenorie.

Police have been told that two men attended the home in a Toyota Corolla. After test driving the vehicle with the owner, one of the men drove away in the Mercedes while the owner was distracted. The other man followed the Mercedes in the Toyota Corolla.

Police were alerted to the alleged theft with POLAIR and local police commencing a search of the area for the vehicle.

A short time later the vehicles were seen heading towards Merrylands.

The Toyota was stopped by officers from Cumberland Police Area Command, leaving the Mercedes to drive ahead.

A short time later the Mercedes stopped in Paton Street, Merrylands West, where officers from Cumberland Police Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command arrested the driver.

The 32-year-old man driving the Mercedes and the 30-year-old man driving the Toyota were conveyed to Granville Police Station where they were charged with take and drive conveyance, drive manner dangerous, and larceny.

The men were given strict bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 12 March 2019.
