Two men, both disqualified drivers, have been charged following a pursuit in Sydney’s south-west overnight.
About 10.30pm (Tuesday 15 June 2021), officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attempted to speak with the driver of a white Mazda CX9, who allegedly sped away as officers approached the vehicle.
A pursuit was initiated however terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
A search of the surrounding area commenced after the vehicle was located on Anderson Avenue with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Squad.
Both men were located by police on Murphy Avenue, Liverpool, shortly after they attempted to flee in a rideshare vehicle.
The men, both aged 28, were arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station.
The driver was charged with drive motor vehicle while disqualified, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly.
His passenger was charged with goods in personal custody suspected being stolen and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, as well as a revocation of parole warrant for assault and theft offences.
Both were refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 16 June 2021).
