NSW police charge two after pursuit in Dubbo

A man and a teen have been charged following a police pursuit in the state’s Central West yesterday.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 November 2021), officers attached to Western Region Enforcement Squad were patrolling the Dubbo CBD when the driver of a Suzuki Swift allegedly accelerated away from them at speed on Magnolia Boulevard.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver did not stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

Officers pursued the driver of the Suzuki through Dubbo before the car headed west on the Newell Highway, where it left the roadway and came to a stop on a grass verge.

The driver – aged 25 – and two passengers, aged 15 and 26, were arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.

Orana Mid-Western Police District Proactive Crime Team and General Duties assisted with the pursuit.

The 25-year-old man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (11 November 2021).

The teen was charged with possess prohibited drug and was given conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday 20 December 2021.
