NSW police charge two for break and enter, stolen vehicle, firearm offences at Lake Illawarra

A man and woman will face court today following an investigation into a string of offences allegedly committed in a stolen vehicle.

On Wednesday 3 July 2019 a red Mazda was reported stolen from an address in Wollongong.

Officers attached to the Anti-Theft Team at Lake Illawarra Police District commenced an investigation into the stolen vehicle and a number of alleged fail to pay offences across the Illawarra region.

The vehicle was also involved in a police pursuit on Saturday 13 July 2019 that was terminated for safety reasons.

The vehicle was seized at a home in Albion Park on Tuesday 16 July (2019) and taken to a police holding yard for forensic examination.

About 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday 24 July 2019) a man and woman were arrested at a home in Albion Park for offences relating to the stolen vehicle.

Police searched the premises and located an unregistered handgun.

A 30-year-old Albion Park man was charged with larceny, take and drive stolen conveyance, use stolen numberplates, drive while disqualified and breach of firearms prohibition order.

A 30-year-old Albion Park woman was charged with larceny, be carried in stolen vehicle and breach of bail.

Both were bail refused and are due to appear before Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 25 July 2019).
