Two men will face court today charged as part of an ongoing investigation into criminal networks involved in illicit drug supply in Sydney.
In January, detectives from the Drug and Firearms Squad established Strike Force Youdale to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.
The investigation has also been assisted by detectives from the Organised Crime Squad.
As part of their earlier inquiries, strike force investigators seized 1kg of methylamphetamine (ice) and 350g of heroin.
Following extensive investigations, a 23-year-old man was arrested by the Tactical Operation Unit at an apartment at Pyrmont about 8.20pm yesterday (Thursday 7 March 2019).
During a search of the man and his vehicle, strike force investigators seized 1kg of ice and $3,480 cash.
The 23-year-old Sefton man was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with nine counts of supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Friday 8 March 2019).
Shortly after the arrest, strike force detectives, assisted by the South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad and the Dog Unit, executed three search warrants at homes at Sefton and Strathfield.
During the searches, police seized 1.1kg of MDMA, more than 100g of ice, more than 350g of heroin, more than $50,000 cash, Valium, mobile phones, SIM cards, electronic devices, drug paraphernalia, and documentation.
A 20-year-old man was arrested at one of the Strathfield properties was charged with six counts of supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.
The drugs seized during the investigation so far have a total estimated potential street value of more than $2 million.
Investigations under Strike Force Youdale are continuing, and further arrests are expected.
