NSW police charge two over assaults, robberies across Sydney

Two men have been charged following investigations into multiple alleged assaults and robberies across Sydney earlier this month.

On Wednesday 6 March 2019, a Mazda 3 was stolen from a home in Winston Hills.

Between Monday 11 March 2019 and Thursday 14 March 2019, two men were involved in a number of alleged assaults and robberies in Strathfield, Homebush, Lidcombe, Sydney Olympic Park, and Camperdown.

It’s alleged the men were driving the stolen vehicle at the time of the incidents.

Detectives from Auburn Police Area Command formed Strike Force Venas to investigate the incidents.

Following inquiries, detectives located the stolen Mazda outside a home on Wilkes Crescent, Tregear, about 11pm yesterday (Thursday 14 March 2019).

The vehicle was seized and is continuing to undergo forensic examination.

Following the vehicle seizure, police attended a home on Woodville Road, Merrylands, where they arrested two men, aged 20 and 18.

The men were taken to Auburn Police Station where they were charged with:

– Robbery armed with offensive weapon (x2);

– Robbery in company cause grievous bodily harm;

– Robbery in company;

– Be carried in conveyance taken without consent (x2);

– Aggravated assault with intent; and

They were refused bail to appear in Burwood Local Court today (Friday 15 March 2019).
