NSW police charge two people after investigations into property theft in Sydney’s south-west

Two people have been charged following investigations into break-ins, car theft and stealing offences across Sydney’s south-west during the past month.

Between November and December 2019, officers from Liverpool City Proactive Crime Team were investigating numerous theft related offences across Camden, Liverpool and Parramatta.

One of the reported incidents involved the theft of an Apple laptop that was fitted with a GPS tracking device.

As investigations continued, officers yesterday (Monday 23 December 2019), tracked the computer to a hotel in Prestons.

Police entered the hotel room where they arrested a man aged 37 and a woman aged 18.

Police will allege a search of the room uncovered the stolen Apple laptop, $585 in cash, a replica pistol, stolen mobile phones and a small amount of drugs.

A stolen Lexus was also found in the carpark outside the hotel room.

The pair were arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with firearm possession, take conveyance without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drug possession, and dishonestly obtain property by deception.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 24 December 2019).

She was charged with being carried in a conveyance without consent and drug possession.

She was given conditional bail and will appear in Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 23 January 2020.
