NSW police charge two people after police pursuit

A man and a woman have been charged following a police pursuit on the Central Coast last night.

About 11.40pm (Tuesday 13 April 2021), officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District were performing random breath testing at River Road, Wyong when a white Holden Commodore allegedly failed to stop.

Officers pursued the vehicle, assisted by PolAir, through the Wyong, Wadalba, Kanwal, Lake Haven,

Charmhaven, Gorokan, Canton Beach, Toukley and Noraville areas.

The pursuit was terminated approximately 15 minutes later on Wilfred Barret Drive, Noraville, due to the Commodore crossing onto the incorrect side of the road.

PolAir monitored the vehicle as it continued to travel through the Tuggerah Lakes and Lake Macquarie Police Districts.

About 12.25am (Wednesday 14 April 2021), police commenced another pursuit on Macquarie Drive, Warners Bay.

The pursuit ended a short time later when road spikes were deployed and the Commodore came to a stop on Macquarie Drive, near the intersection of King Street, Warners Bay.

A man – aged 27 – and a woman – aged 28 – were arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where the man was charged with police pursuit – not stop-drive at speed, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.

He was refused bail to appear at Belmont Local Court today (Wednesday 14 April 2021).

The woman was charged with police pursuit- not stop, drive at speed and possess knife in public place.

She was given conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 5 May 2021.
