Two women will appear in court today charged after a house was deliberately set alight fire in the state’s south last night.

Two women will appear in court today charged after a house was deliberately set alight fire in the state’s south last night.

About 10.30pm (Thursday 24 November 2022), emergency services were called to a home on Glenelg Drive, Springdale Heights, following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to the Murray River Police District attended and extinguished the blaze, before firefighters attended to ensure it was out.

Police have been told two women allegedly attended the home and attempted to raise the occupants before pouring petrol on the front door and setting it alight.

Four residents – a 24-year-old woman and three children – inside the home at the time were not injured.

Two women, aged 46 and 40, were arrested nearby and taken to Albury Police Station.

They were charged with destroy property in company use fire and destroy or damage property with intent to endanger life.

Both women were refused bail and will appear at Albury Local Court today (Friday 25 November 2022).
