NSW police charge woman after ambulance paramedic assaulted at Camperdown

A woman will appear in court today charged after allegedly assaulting a NSW Ambulance paramedic at Camperdown yesterday.

Just before 1.30pm yesterday (Monday 4 May 2020), NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to a Redfern address to assist officers from South Sydney Police Area Command with a patient.

The patient, a 67-year-old woman, was transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown, where she has verbally abused a male paramedic before allegedly punching him in the face.

Further paramedics attended to assist, and the woman was admitted to hospital and assessed.

Upon her release about 7.30pm, the woman was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with obstruct or hinder ambulance officer by act of violence.

She was refused bail and is due to appear at Central Local Court today (Tuesday 5 May 2020).
