NSW police charge woman after death of baby boy

A woman has been charged with murder following an investigation into the death of a baby boy in Sydney’s south-west earlier this year.

About 4.40pm on Thursday 20 May 2021, emergency services responded after concerns were raised for the welfare of residents at a home at Oran Park.

Upon arrival, officers attached to Camden Police Area Command found a four-month-old boy unconscious and unresponsive.

NSW Ambulance paramedics commenced CPR at the scene before the infant was taken to Campbelltown Hospital, however, was unable to be revived.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested at the home and taken to Narellan Police Station before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for an assessment.

The home was examined by specialist forensic officers and Camden Detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

Following inquiries, the woman was arrested in Malabar today (Wednesday 29 September 2021) and charged with murder (DV).

She was refused bail and appeared before Campbelltown Local Court today via AVL today, where she was formally refused bail and is due to reappear before the same court on Wednesday 24 November 2021.
