NSW police charge woman after elderly man hit by car at Warren

A woman has been charged after an elderly man was hit by a car in the state’s Orana Region.

About 3.40pm Wednesday (11 September 2019), an 88-year-old man was standing in the carpark area of an aged care facility at Warren when he was hit by a reversing vehicle.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District allege the driver, a 35-year-old woman, stopped briefly and failed to render assistance to the man before driving from the carpark.

The man sustained a large wound to his left leg and was taken to Warren Hospital for surgery.

About 12.45pm yesterday (Thursday 12 September 2019), the 35-year-old woman was arrested at Dubbo Police Station and charged with fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm, and grievous bodily harm by negligent act vehicle.

The woman’s licence was suspended, and she was granted conditional bail to attend Dubbo Local Court Wednesday 11 November 2019.
