NSW police charge woman after man was stabbed at Portland home

A woman will appear at Lithgow court today after allegedly stabbing a man at a home in the state’s Central Tablelands.

Shortly after 10.30pm yesterday (Thursday 4 July 2019), it is alleged a 23-year-old woman was at a home in Portland when she produced a carving style knife from the kitchen and stabbed a 42-year-old man to the chest area.

A struggle ensued before other occupants of the house were alerted.

About 1.20am (Friday 5 July 2019), the woman attended Portland Police Station where she was arrested.

Officers attended the home on Wolgan Street and established a crime scene. At the location they found the man with a laceration to the side of his chest and left hand.

He was taken to Lithgow Hospital in a stable condition, before being transferred to Nepean Hospital for treatment.

The woman was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and reckless wounding.

She was bail refused to appear at Lithgow Local Court today (Friday 5 July 2019).

Investigations suggest both the man and woman were visiting the home at the time and are known to each other.
