NSW police charge woman after police vehicle rammed at Albury

A woman has been charged after a police vehicle was rammed in the state’s Murray River region earlier this year.

About 11.50am Saturday 8 January 2022, police were called after the driver of a white Holden Statesman, with Victorian registration plates, was seen speeding down David Street, Albury, before entering an underground carpark.

A senior constable, in a marked Highway Patrol vehicle, was first on scene and stopped in front of the Holden, which was parked inside the carpark with three unknown occupants inside.

The Holden driver repeatedly rammed the police vehicle until there was room to exit the carpark and drove from the scene.

The 30-year-old male senior constable was uninjured. The police vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene.

Police commenced an extensive search of the area and located the Holden unattended at Gilbert Street, Wodonga, Victoria.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination and officers from Murray River Police District commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, a 29-year-old woman was arrested in Albury yesterday (Thursday 10 March 2022).

Police will allege she was in the front seat of the vehicle at the time of the ramming.

She was taken to Albury Police Station where she was charged with passenger not disclose driver’s/other passenger’s identity.

She was granted conditional bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Monday 4 April 2022.
