A woman has been charged following unauthorised protest activity in the Sydney CBD earlier this week.
The NSW Police Force re-established Strike Force Guard in May this year to prevent, investigate and disrupt unauthorised protests across the state.
About 8.10am on Tuesday (28 June 2022), emergency services were called to the intersection of William and Palmer streets at Woolloomooloo, responding to reports a group of protesters had entered the intersection and were disrupting traffic.
11 people were arrested and remain before the courts; a number of people in the group dispersed and left the location.
Following further inquiries, strike force police attended a licensed premises at Crinan Street, Hurlstone Park, where they arrested a 66-year-old woman about 3pm yesterday (Thursday 30 June 2022).
She was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with intimidate police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, destroy or damage property, wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty, wilfully prevent free passage of person/vehicle/vessel, and pedestrian obstruct driver’s/other pedestrian’s path.
She was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 1 July 2022).
Police will allege in court the woman – from Mount Pleasant in Victoria – was also involved in a police operation at a Colo property earlier last month.
