NSW police charge woman over $104,000 fraud

A woman has been charged following an ongoing investigation into the alleged defrauding of a man in the state’s Central West.

In July last year, officers from Orana Mid Western Police District commenced an investigation after reports a 71-year-old man had been defrauded on several occasions.

Following extensive inquiries, a 59-year-old woman was arrested by investigators at Dubbo Police Station on Tuesday (28 September 2021).

A subsequent search warrant was executed at a home on Tomingley West Road, Tomingley, about 12.30pm the same day.

Detectives seized documentation relevant to the investigation, which will undergo further examination.

The woman was charged with 17 counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

Police will allege in court that the woman stole more than $104,000 via multiple transactions between October 2019 and June 2020, while acting as his trustee.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 10 November 2021.
