NSW police charge woman over armed robbery at Wellington

A woman will appear in court today charged over an alleged armed robbery in the state’s central west yesterday.

About 3.30pm (Sunday 24 October 2021), a 28-year-old woman attended a home on Walker Crescent, Wellington, to visit a woman known to her.

Police have been told the occupant of the home threatened the 28-year-old woman with a knife, while demanding money be transferred into her account.

The occupant allegedly punched, kicked and dragged the woman outside the home before she fled the location on foot.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.

The woman was taken to Wellington Hospital suffering injuries to her face and wrist and later transferred to Dubbo Base Hospital for further treatment, where she remains in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Walker Crescent, and arrested a 34-year-old woman just after 4.30pm yesterday.

She was taken to Wellington Police Station and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Monday 25 October 2021).
